Reviews With A Quill

The folks at Feathered Quill Book Reviews will critique your novel and have it spotlighted in their main page or featured with links to your sites for about two weeks or more. They will also publish an interview with you. Prices  and descriptions of these services can be found on their website; they are very affordable. I went for the “spotlight review” ($125), which is their high-end service. Here’s my experience with them:
The review was lengthy, but the problem is that it was one of those “synopsis reviews;” the kind that regurgitates the back or inside cover of your manuscript in the words of the reviewer, and then in the last paragraph,  you get the critic’s personal opinion. I’m not a big fan of these types of critiques. They seem lazy, and in the case of a thriller, always throw in a bunch of spoilers that I frankly don’t appreciate. I went through great pains to keep my synopsis as vague  as I could to avoid ruining the experience for readers. I did however really enjoyed the last paragraph the reviewer wrote. It really depicted what kind of book this was and what their experience in reading it was. To me, it was where the real gold lay.
Since I chose the “spotlight service,” my review appeared on their website for two weeks with a link to amazon so readers could by the book, other pertinent information about the title (publication date, ISBN, etc),  and a link to my interview at the bottom.

The interview: this I found really interesting. Usually the way these interviews work is that they send you an email with a bunch of questions, you answer them, and then you get a second set of questions expanding  on the first. But the guys at Feathered Quill Book Reviews did something I thought was really cool. They sent me a handful of questions (the interview is not lengthy), which had nothing to do with the usual fare i.e. “why did you decide to write your novel?”  Instead, they were questions formulated by someone who read the book and really wanted to hear the author’s opinion about certain subjects. I think it helped that the reviewer really enjoy my work. It was definitely one of the most interesting interviews I’ve  done for my novel.

Anyway, I hope this helps. You can find the review of my book at: and my interview at:

Keep on running!
